João de Brito hosts creative retreats in the Azores, Portugal — inviting artists of every discipline to create, collaborate and experience island culture together.

The retreat welcomes anyone with an interest in art — ceramists, ceramic sculptors, writers, poets, photographers and established painters alike. Participants pursue their own work while experiencing the culture of the islands through organized day trips.

Home base — Vila Franca do Campo. Situated on São Miguel’s southern coast, this town was founded in the 15th century, has roughly 5,300 residents, and offers some of the best beaches of the Azores. Summer temperatures average a high near 70°F and a low near 60°F.
